- Toyo Seikan Group Holdings Selected as Constituent of FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index
We are pleased to announce that Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd. (represented by Ichio Otsuka, President) has been selected as a constituent of the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index, a new stock index for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing, which was adopted by Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) as a benchmark for its investment on March 30, 2022.
The index, created by FTSE Russell, a global index provider developing and managing stock and bond indices, reflects the performance of Japanese companies that demonstrate relatively strong ESG practices in their respective sectors, and is designed to be sector neutral. To facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy, the index uses the management quality scores of the Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) as inclusion criteria for companies with particularly high greenhouse gas emissions, and selects only those whose efforts to reduce GHG emissions are highly scored.
This is the third investment index of FTSE Russell in which we have been included, following the FTSE4Good Index Series and the FTSE Blossom Japan Index.
In May 2021, the Toyo Seikan Group formulated a new long-term management vision toward the year 2050, the Long-Term Management Vision 2050 "The Future, Wrapped for All," in order to think about the society and the global environment from a long-term perspective to maximize the value the Group offers to all its stakeholders. The new long-term vision has set a goal as to what we aim and want to be: a "daily living platform" for people all over the world to live safe, secure and fulfilling lives. We will promote our business activities to aim for a society that accepts differences and diversity to allow individual people to value their own lives and a society that continues to allow people to live happily into the future without harming the environment.
