Toyo Seikan (the predecessor of Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd.) was established in 1917 by Tatsunosuke Takasaki, a business man who also demonstrated his ability in politics.
The company has grown to a world-class comprehensive packaging manufacturer through delivering a wide range of packaging containers that utilize features of various materials such as metal, plastic, paper and glass. Its products have been supporting every aspect of daily living.

Plastic-free movement gains momentum globally
Global movement for a plastic-free environment is accelerating with more countries banning the use of plastic straws and plastic shopping bags to address the problem of marine plastic pollution. Meanwhile, attention to plastic recycling is growing in Japan as the government has formulated its strategy for plastic resource recycling.

Capitalize on Our Strength
We find solutions by leveraging the Group’s strength
We understand that we must sincerely face the current plastic-free movement since we are delivering to the society a great volume of plastic products, including PET bottles for beverage and plastic containers for food and household products.
Our strength lies in our comprehensive ability to serve various packaging containers made of different types of materials such as metal, plastic, paper and glass. With a great deal of variations of our containers, we offer optimal solutions corresponding to changes in the needs of customers and the society.
As we celebrated our 100th anniversary in 2017, we have chosen a theme for the next 100 years: “Offering an environmentally-friendly systems.” We also focus on “Propositions for more advanced functions and lower environmental impact of packaging containers that are achieved through the development of paper and film materials”, which is one of the key measures formulated in the Mid-term Management Plan 2025 launched in 2021. In addition to our present product line-up, we are working on the development of new paper containers and biodegradable packages that can help find solutions to the plastic-free challenge.
As a comprehensive packaging manufacturer, we will commit ourselves to global environmental protection through the implementation of these measures, thereby contributing to the creation of a sustainable society.
