The Group possesses numerous elemental technologies for each material, including metal, plastic, paper, and glass. These technologies have been cultivated over many years through the development of products such as packaging containers. In our efforts in new business areas, we are also utilizing the technologies we have cultivated in other fields and developing products that combine multiple technologies.
As part of its efforts in new business areas, Toyo Seikan Group Holdings has launched a new brand of functional materials for electronic devices, "MiraNeo®," and has developed an "ultra-moisture barrier film" as part of that lineup.
This film boasts the world's highest level of moisture barrier performance and high durability, giving it a significant advantage over competing products on the market.
There is strong interest in "ultra-moisture barrier films" in the solar panel industry, and we are working to expand our "MiraNeo®" business through our investment in Enfoil BV, a pioneer in next-generation flexible solar panels. From March 2025, we will begin shipping "MiraNeo🄬" solar panel film products to Enfoil BV, which will then begin manufacturing solar panel products using this film.
In Japan, Toyo Mebius Co., Ltd. also plans to install solar panels incorporating MiraNeo® products on the roofs of its logistics trucks to generate electricity and verify the greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction effect.
Going forward, we will continue to expand the use of "MiraNeo®" ultra-moisture barrier film in solar panels, aiming to reduce GHG emissions through the spread of clean energy and realize a sustainable society.
③ Pinhole Free
The structure of the film makes it less susceptible to pinhole defects, which are common in film materials, and prevents moisture from entering for a long period of time.
Going forward, the Group will continue to expand the MiraNeo® brand into various fields and promote the creation of new mechanisms that contribute to solving social issues. In addition to the early social implementation of films for solar power generation panels, the Group will also focus on developing surface protection films for organic EL signage, and will work to realize a sustainable society by reducing environmental impact, as well as to develop products and markets for the coming smart society.
