Toyo Kohan Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masahiro Kai; hereinafter "Toyo Kohan"), a consolidated subsidiary of our company, has entered into an agreement with HSE Corporation (Head office: Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture; President and CEO: Kei Ishida; hereinafter "HSE") on March 27, 2026, regarding a virtual PPA *2 for onshore wind power generation utilizing the FIP system *1.
This initiative involves HSE, acting as an aggregator *3, supplying Toyo Kohan with the equivalent of 18 GWh of environmental value generated annually from a total of three FIP onshore wind power plants operated by the HSE Group. This is expected to reduce Toyo Kohan 's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by approximately 8,700 tons per year.
The two companies will continue to explore expanding PPAs at other power plants and promote decarbonization.
Toyo Kohan In accordance with the Eco Action Plan 2030, the Group's medium- to long-term environmental goal to realize a decarbonized society, the Company is working on energy-saving and energy-creating activities with the goals of reducing GHG emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 50% in FY2030 (compared to FY2019) and achieving carbon neutrality in FY2050. We are working on energy-saving and energy-creating activities. As part of our energy creation activities, we are promoting the introduction of on-site and off-site solar power generation, and plan to replace approximately 25% of the electricity used at the Kudamatsu Plant with renewable energy by FY2030, including this initiative.
This initiative is the first introduction of wind power-derived renewable energy in the Minebea Group, as well as the first introduction of virtual PPA. We will continue our efforts to reduce GHG emissions and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
1 FIP system: Abbreviation for "Feed-in Premium" system, which was launched in April 2022 with the aim of increasing investment incentives for power generators and promoting the introduction of renewable energy. The system provides a certain amount of premium (subsidy) to power generation companies for electricity sold at market prices.
2 Virtual PPA: A PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) is a form of contract in which electricity consumers purchase renewable energy directly from PPA providers (transfer of non-fossil certificates for renewable energy electricity). Virtual PPA is a means by which an electricity customer virtually procures only the environmental value of renewable energy generated at a power plant built outside the electricity customer's premises.
3 Aggregator operator: An operator that controls the balance between supply and demand of renewable electricity and maximizes the use of energy resources (power generation facilities, storage facilities, etc.) to supply electricity to retail electricity providers and other consumers. Requires notification to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

HSE operates 30 wind farms nationwide with a total capacity of 255 MW. Starting in fiscal year 2023, HSE began its renewable energy aggregation business, and by fiscal year 2026, the HSE Group plans to expand its FIP (Feed-in Premium) wind frams (including those currently undergoing transition certification) to 19 locations with a total capacity of 167 MW. As a leading aggregator operating FIP wind power plants in Japan, HSE is making a significant contribution to promoting the use of the FIP system in the country.
The HSE Group has been promoting the development of wind farms and is currently working on multiple projects nationwide. Through the development of renewable energy sources and corporate PPAs utilizing the FIP system, we will contribute to local energy production and consumption and help our customers achieve carbon neutrality.
Founded in 1934 as Japan's first private tinplate manufacturer, we have expanded into product fields other than steel, such as aluminum and resin, based on our unique technologies in iron rolling and surface treatment that we have cultivated over the course of our history, and continue to provide a variety of products and services that support people's lives.
