Our consolidated subsidiary Toyo Kohan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Masahiro Kai; hereinafter "Toyo Kohan") will purchase the environmental value of surplus electricity related to the rooftop solar power generation equipment installed at the "Mazda KD Center," which Mazda Motor Corporation (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Hidetake Takahashi; hereinafter "ORIX"), scheduled for completion in November 2026.
Toyo Kohan supports Mazda's efforts to expand renewable energy adoption across the entire supply chain, and will purchase the environmental value of surplus electricity generated by Orix's solar power facilities at the "Mazda KD Center" that could not be fully consumed within the facility. The expected power generation for the first year is approximately 2.6 GWh, of which about 77% will be consumed on-site, so Toyo Kohan will purchase the remaining approximately 23% of the environmental value.
This initiative will lead to decarbonization across the entire supply chain and contribute to the enhancement of regional renewable energy.
*Aggregator: A business that controls the balance between the demand and supply of renewable energy electricity and maximizes the use of energy resources (power generation facilities, energy storage facilities, etc.) to supply electricity to consumers such as retail electricity providers. Registration with the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry is required.
Toyo Kohan is advancing energy-saving and renewable energy introduction initiatives with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 50% by fiscal 2030 (compared to fiscal 2019) and achieving carbon neutrality by fiscal 2050, based on the Toyo Seikan Group 's medium- to long-term environmental goal "Eco Action Plan 2030," aiming to realize a decarbonized society. We are promoting the introduction of solar power both onsite and off-site, and through this initiative, plan to replace approximately 25% of the electricity used at the Kudamatsu Plant with renewable energy by fiscal 2030.
