Based on the results obtained from three "IKKON IKKYOKU PROJECT" held in collaboration with the Japan Shogi Association (Tokyo Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Ichiyo Shimizu; hereinafter "Japan Shogi Association") and Agnavi Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chigasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; CEO: Seishu Gen; hereinafter "Agnavi"), we have developed an original sake can planning and manufacturing scheme for municipalities and companies involved in the tournament, allowing users to select the optimal filling method according to conditions such as brewery manufacturing systems, lot sizes, and delivery times.
By supporting the production of original sake cans that leverage the unique characteristics of sake breweries in each region where the tournament is held, we contribute to regional revitalization through the promotion of traditional Japanese culture and regional appeal, tourism promotion, and revitalization of the local economy.
This initiative involves brewing sake at local breweries in the host cities of shogi tournaments, filling them into 180ml (one go) aluminum cans, and creating original sake cans commemorating shogi tournaments and local events. The aim is to combine shogi and sake, two traditional Japanese cultural elements, to widely promote the charm of the region, and to encourage interaction between tournament attendees and local residents.
For this project, three types of filling methods were adopted depending on the tournament location, distribution method, and brewery needs. For the "3rd Tachikawa Tachihi Cup," we produced the "Tachikawa Tachihi Cup" by affixing an original tag to single-serving cans filled by Agnavi's commissioned filling business, "Sake Daikan." For the "75th Osho Title Match Seven-Game Match," we used hand seamers to fill sake from three breweries in Otawara City, Tochigi Prefecture, using small-lot filling. Then, for the "84th Masters Title Seven-Game Match," we utilized the mobile sake can filling service "TSUME-TARO" provided by our consolidated subsidiary Toyo Seikan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yasumitsu Takebe), and switched some lots to original Meijin title match labels during the production process of existing canned products.
Through these efforts, we confirmed that the most suitable filling method could be selected from multiple options depending on the brewery's manufacturing system, lot size, delivery time, and other conditions.
In the third round of "IKKON IKKYOKU PROJECT," in conjunction with the "84th Meijin Title Match Best-of-Seven Game 2," a collaboration was held with Nishida Shuzo, a sake brewery in Aomori City. In this initiative, a special "Denshu" (rice sake) can featuring the traditional Aomori culture "Nebuta" was created using "TSUME-TARO" and distributed to visitors at the pre-festival held on April 24, 2026 ※。
*General sales are not available. Distributed to those aged 20 and over after age verification.
Through our efforts to date, we have established a flexible manufacturing system that allows us to select filling methods according to the manufacturing system, lot size, and delivery date, and we have been able to build a scheme that enables us to provide a unified service for local governments and companies involved in chess tournaments, from planning and production to sales of original sake cans.
Using the scheme we have developed, we will support the planning and production of original sake cans that showcase local characteristics, not only for chess tournaments but also for various other events.
Our group will continue to promote traditional Japanese culture and regional attractions through packaging containers, contributing to the expansion of sales channels for sake breweries and the revitalization of local economies.
